MY HAND IN YOUR HAND: Songs for Families Who Reach Out in Love

According to AdoptUsKids.org, about 135,000 children are adopted in the United States each year. Of non-stepparent adoptions, about 59 percent are from the child welfare (or foster) system, 26 percent are from other countries, and 15 percent are voluntarily relinquished American babies. GROWING SOUND; the music publishing division of Children, Inc., understands that becoming a foster/adoption family is one of the most emotionally rewarding things you can do. Every child deserves the opportunity to love and be loved.

Just recently GROWING SOUND released a new music compilation titled MY HAND IN YOUR HAND for children birth-age 7. This collection features 16 songs targeted for foster/adoption families that will inspire you to grow together as a family-to nurture, to teach, to learn…hand in hand. Song titles include “We Fit”, “The Sun Always Shines”, “I’ll Be There”, “I Can Count on You”, “A Place Called Hope”, and others. Professionals who work with foster/adoption families and who helped select the songs for this project have offered positive feedback.

“There are so many ideas and phrases in these songs that resonate with foster/adopted children, especially those that have experienced trauma.” Says Becky Walker, Founder of Beyond Adoptions, Inc. based in Fort Worth, TX.

According to First4Adoption.org, creative arts therapies, such as the use of music, can help children from complex and traumatic backgrounds in a range of ways. It can help to increase concentration and attention skills, improve family and social relationships and increase a child’s confidence. For many children music can be a first step towards finding ways of dealing with their feelings of loss, frustration and emotional trauma so that they can start to learn to trust, love and lead happier lives.

Songs selected for this collection stem from previously released, award-winning GROWING SOUND music projects. The songs are strength-based (recognizing and encouraging what is right in each child instead of fixing what is wrong, and helping children discover the goodness in their lives and within themselves), principle-based (nurturing positive social and emotional growth through the creative application of research based principles), and adult-modeled (recognizing our own strengths and modeling them for children). Songs can engage our minds, body, emotions, sense of culture, and community.

MY HAND IN YOUR HAND is available in both print and digital format. The project is available for consumer purchase on CDBaby.com (where you can listen to the full version of each song), Target.com, iTunes, Amazon, and with other digital providers. Discounted bulk pricing for CDs and digital download cards for Foster/Adoption Agencies is available directly through Growing Sound. Purchase Orders are welcome.
